Wow, what an awesome experience. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at The Capital Mirage in the heart of Cape Town. We wanted to break away from the normal home buzz for a night, as we celebrated her birthday. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff. I must mention though, we were a tad bit early on check in, but nonetheless they welcomed us and within minutus we were up on Level 4 in our Luxury Studio room.
Well after settling into the room we both spread out on the king size bed, where she was going to read some on her tablet and I grabbed the remote to watch the Formula 1 race. Well that was the plan for both of us, but we fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later. Some much needed rest during a couple of busy weeks of late.
We decided to go for dinner and headed up the the 15th floor at The Vue, where the 360 aerial views of Cape Town are spectacular. We enjoyed some cocktails and ordered some food. The wife had the Filet Steak and I had the Beef Burger. "Wow," is all I can say. It was spectacular.
After sunset we headed back down to the room the we just lazed on the couch watching some movies. A late night room service call for some ice cream and chocolate sauce from The Cattle Baron on the groud floor of the hotel just had to be made.
Waking up in the city does take some getting to used to, but we only noticed the Monday morning buzz after opening up the near sound proof doors to let the noise of the world in. For breakfast we headed up to The Vue once again, where a lovely buffet breakfast with friendly staff welcomed us.
I would have loved to stay longer, as we wanted to enjoy a game of pool and try out the state of the art gym, but that just means we will have to visit again.
Thank you to The Mirage for having Jo-Anne and I. We enjoyed it thoroughly, and hope to see you soon.
